Court of Appeal to hear challenge to Guy Turcotte verdict
The Quebec Court of Appeal will hear a challenge to the verdict that cleared Guy Turcotte of criminal responsibility in the deaths of his two children in February 2009.
It will seek to determine if the judge erred in instructing the jury during the former cardiologist's trial.
Turcotte stabbed his two children, aged 3 and 5, to death in February 2009. He was found not criminally responsible for their deaths in July 2011.
The appeal will be heard on Sept. 30, and if the court accepts the challenge, Turcotte will have to face a new trial.
