Reward offered for missing urns
Provincial police are relaunching efforts to track down thieves who broke into the columbarium at the Ste Hyacinthe Cathedral and took off with two urns.
The unusual robbery happened sometime between 4 p.m. on New Year's Eve and noon on New Year's Day.
The SQ says the front door of the columbarium was smashed and thieves took off with the urns containing cremated remains.
Sun Youth is now offering up a reward in hopes the public will come forward with information.
"Sun Youth is offering a reward of $3,000 for anyone with information leading to the arrest and the conviction of the suspects responsible for this break and entry," says SQ spokesperson Joyce Kemp.
The family who one of the urns belonged to has also put up an ad about the missing urns on Kijiji.
It says to contact SQ investigators with any information pertaining to the case.
Anyone with information about the break-in should call 1-800-659-4264.
So far, police say they have no leads.
