Do you miss the Expos?

A group calling itself the Montreal Baseball Project is teaming up with the Board of Trade to begin working on a study to find out if a return of Major League Baseball in Montreal is feasible.

Warren Cromartie, a former fan favorite during the Expos' glory years of the 1970s and 80s, heads up the Montreal Baseball Project.

"My whole agenda here in Montreal is to try to change the attitude," Cromartie says, "Because I know a lot of people who were angry eight years ago. You have to get past that because this is a new era. New times."

For now, the Montreal Board of Trade is putting $200,000 forward for Ernst and Young to carry out the study, which should be completed sometime next year.

    Nah. We can only afford to fix that dilapidated Olympic Stadium so that nothing can go on inside it.

    There's always tons of cash for that with 2% of the population (if that) interested in keeping that toilet bowl in the sky.

    I would certainly enjoy having baseball back in Montreal however for it to work the playing field would have to be in downtown. The Expos didn't work here unfortunately for the Olympic Stadium.

    In closing as much as I'd love to have the Expos back having the cloud of separation [politics] rain on us is Montreal's Achilles heel.

    Miss the Expos badly. Would love them back, but this is a silly pipe dream. It's all over, this city (province) is too corrupt and in too much of a mess for baseball to happen again. Support soccer and the Als instead.

    Right now there are contractors and politicians with their fingers crossed hoping for the Expos to come back so they can build a new stadium and soak the tax paying suckers AGAIN ! You can have all the Charbonneau commissions you want but you can never rid corruption in La La land because the roots are way to deep. Construction , roads ,teaching lies in high schools is all part of the distinct culture here. Bonne chance a tous, this place is F ed .
