Telus targeted over fees

Natalie Martin has gone up against telcom giant Telus before, and she's going after them again.

Martin found herself unpleasantly surprised by new fees she found in her monthly phone bill.

She got so irate, she's decided to launch a class-action lawsuit.

According to her lawyer Cory Verbauwhede, the hikes spanned a number of services.

"There were various charges for text messages inside of Canada and outside of Canada, the charges for 411 went up, they started charging $2 to receive paper invoices," he says.

"There's quite a range of increases, actually."

A request to authorize the suit will be heard on May 7 and 8.

Martin's first suit against Telus, launched in 2008, is only going before the courts this June.

I dropped Telus years ago and have not looked back. I don't hear anything good about them and I hope that she wins her class action lawsuit.

Good for her. It is about time that these companies tone it down!!! They are out of control with fees here and there. I hope someone has the guts that i don't have to do the same with the banks - enough is enough. Bravo Mme. Martin.

YES! Why don't more people fight these mafia dons. The telecom companies (Rogers moreso) have taken advantage of Canadians long enough. Its too bad you can't proceed with criminal indictments.

I had telus and dropped them when the contract was up. When I went to subscribe I as them if they had a tower near zip code 12992 they said yes no problem I signed a 2 year contract. Went to my country home no signal . Went back to telus they apologized they did not hook me up in roam. Went back the next weekend same problem. Went back to telus I told them what happened they told me I would have reception in Bangor Main I told them I was near Plattsburg NY . They proceeded to tell me they had no tower there Verizon cancelled the contract a year ago Now my phone was useless but they sure did not cancel my contract if when they gave me the wrong info.
