A plane carrying 170 people made an emergency landing at Ottawa's airport Friday morning after a report of smoke in the cockpit.

The Ottawa Fire department had initially said there was a report of a cockpit fire, but later amended that to say it believed there was a report of smoke.

The Sunwing Airlines flight, which had left Ottawa at 6 a.m. for Cuba, landed safely.

Airport Authority spokeswoman Krista Kealey says there was no fire in the cockpit and no one was injured.

The Ottawa Fire Department says it was called to the airport  as a precaution but did not have to respond as the plane landed without incident.
