Cote St-Luc standoff suspect dies in custody
Montreal police confirmed Isidore Havis, 71, passed away in hospital on Saturday at 11:50 a.m..
“An autopsy is scheduled for today,” said Sgt. Laurent Gingras with Montreal police. Police could not say how Havis died.
Depending on the findings of the autopsy, police may investigate.
Havis was facing 14 charges in connection with the standoff that lasted some 20 hours at the end of July.
Police were called to the home on Guelph Street just before noon Tuesday after a man apparently threatened a Hydro Quebec worker.
It was later discovered, there were 180 firearms located inside the home, “all properly stored,” according to his lawyer Jeffrey Boro.
During the standoff, a police officer was shot in the foot and lightly wounded, according to police.
