Copeman, Rotrand join forces with Marcel Côté
Mayoralty hopeful Marcel Côté has announced two big names will be running for him in the Cote des Neiges-NDG borough.
The longtime former MNA for NDG, Russell Copeman, will run with Côté's team for the position of borough mayor.
He's been out of politics since stepping down as MNA in 2008, after 14 years in office. He set forth his reasons for coming back at a news conference today.
"If people who, with some experience, feel as though they have something to offer, do not come up to the plate when they're asked, things will never improve," Copeman says. "I still believe in the value and importance of public service, despite everything that's happened in the last couple of years."
Marvin Rotrand, who's represented Snowdon since 1982, has also aligned himself with Côté.
"I want to make sure we leverage our asset of a multi-racial, multi-cultural, multi-lingual Montreal, and we use that as a way to reinforce our economy and to improve our uniqueness on the international level," Rotrand says.
