Melanie Joly loses her only candidate: reports
Reports are suggesting mayoralty hopeful Melanie Joly has lost the only high-profile candidate that her team has managed to recruit.
Jean Fortier — who served as executive committee chairman under former mayor Pierre Bourque from 1998 to 2001 — told La Presse that he's abandoning Joly's campaign, two months after coming out in support of her mayoralty bid.
He'd been part of her campaign since she announced her intention to run, although he disappeared from public view shortly before last week's candidates debate, fueling rumors that he was about to quit.
There's no official word on why he's quitting.
