Hugh Jackman gives $10,000 to Montreal Children's Hospital
Australian film star Hugh Jackman, the star of the successful X-Men and Wolverine movie franchises, is playing the superhero role in real life.
He has handed the Montreal Children's Hospital a $10,000 donation.
Kim Fraser, a spokesperson for the Children's and a familiar voice to CJAD listeners, says the gift was done online, and while they never saw or spoke with Jackman directly, someone in the office did speak to Jackman's wife, who wanted to make sure the 10 grand actually got out.
"Our web guy got a phone call from Mrs. Jackman, Deborrah Lee, saying she was having trouble making a donation," Fraser says. "She kind of got got up in the old thing that trips everyone up, that French Quebecers don't use a decimal point, they use a comma instead. So, instead of donating $10,000 online, she donated 10 bucks."
Jackman has spent most of the summer in Montreal, filming a new X-Men movie. Fraser says the donation was made in honor of the cast and crew.
