Maltais wants Muslim preachers kept out
Quebec's Status of Women minister is calling on Ottawa to deny entry to some of the Muslim preachers invited to a conference in Montreal next month.
Agnes Maltais says the men have retrograde views about women that are incompatible with Quebec values.
One, for example, says women must veil themselves and failing to do so is worse than having cancer or AIDS.
There has been no reply as yet from Ottawa to Maltais' demand that the preachers be barred from entering Canada.
