WATCH: BIXI blocking business: merchant
A Ville Émard deli owner and butcher is upset about a Bixi stand near his business.
He's upset, not so much about the stand, as he is about where it's located.
The stand is right around the corner from Ron Mish's shop, which is on Jolicoeur. The 15-bike rack blocks his delivery doors.
"I think it's terrible, it wasn't thought of. I think they just looked on a map and dropped a pin and said, 'Park it there,' " Mish told CJAD 800 News.
Mish and his family have been in business for 50 years, with many of his clients driving to his store.
"So what do I have to do? I have to move or does Bixi have to move?"
Bixi tells Mish and CJAD 800 News they're investigating.
Meantime, Mish and area residents aren't happy that the stand is also taking up precious parking spaces in the mostly residential area. They suggest moving the Bixi stand a block away near a park, either on a wide sidewalk or on a less busy street that has no parking allowed anyway.
"We have to fight for a parking place," said Susie Graham, who lives across the way.
"Did they come and ask us, would you use it?It doesn't make sense," chimed in friend and neighbour Irene Daoust.
"I think we should have a say in matters but it doesn't seem we have a say in any matter lately."
