$16 million for rebuilding Lac-Mégantic
Premier Pauline Marois is pledging $16 million dollars toward the rebuilding of Lac-Mégantic's downtown core what was levelled in the deadly July 6 train disaster.
The money will be drawn from the $60 million initially promised by the government shortly after the disaster. It'll be used primarily to relocate about a hundred institutions and businesses.
Both Marois and the mayor of Lac-Mégantic, Colette Roy-Laroche, say they hope to have a functional commercial area up and running before Christmas.
A total of 47 people died when trains filled with crude oil derailed and exploded over the town.
