Immigration won't bar Muslim preachers
Canadian Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney says he is not prepared at this time to stop some Muslim preachers from coming to Canada to speak at a conference.
Quebec's Status of Women Minister, Agnes Maltais, and the Jewish human rights group B'Nai Brith asked Blaney to stop the European preachers from coming to Montreal.
Blaney says while it is clear the views of the men about the role of women in society are retrograde, his office is still looking at the options.
The conference for young Muslims opens September 7 at Montreal's Palais des Congres.
