LISTEN: Back to school today for thousands
Most kids from the English Montreal School Board, Lester B. Pearson School Board and the Commission Scolaire de Montréal started classes Wednesday, August 28th.
"We're a little nervous about meeting new teachers," said some fifth grade students at Nesbitt Elementary School in Rosemont. "But also really excited about field trips, we get to go to Québec City this year! Last year we couldn't because we were just in grade four."
Nesbitt Elementary School's principal Elena Zervas was visibly caught up with back to school chaos but talked about the excitement of classes starting. "We're holding a back to school event next week; we'll have some jungle sport structures outside for the kids."
“I’m really excited to be back at school,” said Connie Cassetta, a grade six teacher at Nesbitt. "This is a brand new year full of challenges and when you’re passionate about your job, you love being here.”
Along with parents and teachers, the SPVM was there to greet students this morning. They launched their annual road safety in school zones campaign.
