EMSB condemns PQ's charter of values
The EMSB is the latest party to condemn the proposed charter of values put forth by the PQ government.
The English Montreal School Board Council of Commissioners unanimously adopted a resolution at its board meeting last night opposing the idea.
In a statement, it says they are categorically opposed to any legislation prohibiting public employees from wearing religious headgear or other religious symbols in the performance of their professional responsibilities in the public sector.
They add that the proposal is divisive, inflammatory and discriminatory to those employees whose wearing of a hijab, yarmulke or crucifix is an expression of their personal beliefs and not the business of government.
