St. Jacques closure options on the table
Transport Quebec has had to put off closing the St. Jacques ramp in N.D.G. for three months until December because of additional sewer work in the area.
And it's already thinking of ways to help ease the traffic jams they expect will happen.
"It's going to be a nightmare when St. Jacques closes," said Projet Montreal city councillor for NDG Peter McQueen.
So McQueen said it's welcome news that among the traffic measures expected is keeping Upper Lachine open while the St. Jacques work is underway.
Transport Quebec is also thinking about opening highway ramps in that area, such as one from Decarie at de Maisonneuve.
"Absolutely. We've supported that for years. We've been urging them to open a new exit ramp at least so local people in N.D.G. who live further west along de Maisonneuve can use it. And reopen the ramp on Girouard, absolutely," McQueen told CJAD 800 News.
McQueen said they also need that new reserved bus lane planned for Sherbrooke St. in November.
