Food trucks want to operate until November
The organization representing Montreal's street food vendors is calling on the Ville-Marie borough to keep their food trucks on the streets until November.
Their season is supposed to end in late September, but Gaëlle Cerf from the Association des Restaurateurs de Rues du Québec says the pilot project that brought street food to Montreal for the first time since the 1940s has been such a smashing success, that an extension is justified.
"We've learned a lot. There's been some good and some bad," Cerf said in a statement. "There have been almost no complaints from restaurateurs."
She says, though, that if there's something she might want to change, however, is the business being done at night. "It doesn't work as well downtown."
She suggests street vendors should be targeting residential neighborhoods during the evening instead.
