No sterilization for breeder cat
The SPCA has decided it will not sterilize a cat that wound up in its care - a bengal breeding cat valued at $3500.
Since Minuit came to the SPCA as a stray, the outfit was set to apply its policy: if a pet is unclaimed by its owner after three days, ownership is transfered to the SPCA and the animal is automatically spayed or neutered before release.
Minuit's owner was furious, given what she paid for the cat.
The SPCA now says a third party has clarified that the feline did not come from a municipality with which it has a service contract, so the usual rule does not apply and Minuit can go home with reproductive organs intact.
