Health Minister: hijab-related ad "indecent"
Quebec's health minister is using the word indecent to describe a recruiting campaign by a hospital in Ontario.
Lakeridge Health is advertising to doctors and nurses here in Quebec with the slogan "We don't care what's on your head, we care what's in it".
That's a reference to the Marois government's proposed Charter of Quebec Values and its ban on the wearing of head coverings and other religious symbols by civil servants, including those in hospitals.
Réjean Hébert says the hospital is being "mean" by trying to capitalize on a societal debate in Quebec.
The minister also says he is not worried about the charter provoking an exodus of medical professionals if it becomes law.
