Ottawa police identify six crash victims
Police have identified all six people killed in yesterday's deadly level-crossing crash between a city bus and a Via Rail train in Ottawa.
They are Michael Bleakney, 57, Connor Boyd, 21, Karen Krzyzewski, 53, Kyle Nash, 21, Rob More, 35, and Dave Woodard, the 45-year-old bus driver.
Carleton University says Boyd and Nash were students at the school and to honour their lives, flags on campus will remain at half-staff.
Meanwhile, Transportation Safety Board investigators recovered data recorders from the bus and locomotive involved in the accident.
A board spokeswoman says the agency will have to get help dealing with the recorder from the double-decker OC Transpo bus because it doesn't normally deal with bus accidents.
The board has said it may take months to unravel why the driver drove the crowded bus into the train.
Witnesses had said the bus didn't stop as lights flashed, bells rang and safety barriers dropped across the road at the approach of the train, which was slowing for a station stop.
Rail crews worked overnight to get the Via Rail passenger train back on the tracks.
