2nd protest against Charter of Values Sept. 29
A second protest against the PQ’s proposed Charter of Values is planned for Sunday, September 29. It will begin at 1 PM at Place des Festival at the corner of Jeanne-Mance and Sainte-Catherine streets.
The protest is being organized by a non-partisan group of six young professionals and students that call themselves the Assembled Citizens for an Open Quebec.
“We are citizens that want to spread the message that Quebec does not need this kind of politics,” Eddy Pérez, one of the organizers, told CJAD. “We really want to tell religious groups that we are with them but that we need to speak against the charter as citizens first.”
Controversy surrounded the first protest against the charter on September 14 because it was organized on Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement.
