Election posters in NDG vandalised
Some Montreal election campaign posters have been defaced in the borough of NDG.
Projet Montréal discovered that two of their posters had been vandalised outside the Vendôme metro station on Tuesday.
The poster for Michael Simkin, NDG Mayor Candidate, was defaced with the word Jew written on it.
“It’s not only against the electoral law but it’s also inappropriate,” Simkin told CJAD. “But fortunately I don’t think this is a wide spread phenomenon that represents our society.”
Simkin added that the PQ's proposed Charter of Values had fuelled the fire of a divisive debate.
A poster for NDG City Councillor Candidate Peter McQueen was also vandalized with anti-anglophone words.
Project Montreal says the posters will be taken down and cleaned up.
