UPDATED: Escaped Hells Angel member found dead
The big time Hells Angel member, who escaped the Montée St-Francois Institution in Laval during the night of September 14, was found dead in a Sorel home after midnight Wednesday night.
The Sureté du Québec found the body of 48-year-old René Charlebois when they showed up at the residence to carry out an arrest warrant.
Charlebois had been incarcerated for an undetermined sentence since 2003 and in the minimum security Laval prison for the last 12 months.
Organized Crime Expert James Dubro told CJAD that he suspected Charlebois had given authorities information to get sentenced to a minimum security prison and that if he did; it is probably responsible for his death.
“If he had given insider information to the police, which I suggest he did, then his being punished successfully for it is not good news for the police, so they’re not going to make a big deal out of it. In fact they’re going to cover it up.”
The Ministry of Public Security has ordered an independent investigation by the Montreal police and they could not comment during the investigation.
Charlebois was a member of the Hells Angels Nomad chapter, he was charged with second degree murder, drug trafficking and killing a police informant, among other things.
