Laval mayoralty hopeful loses half his council candidates
One of the mayoralty hopefuls in Laval will now have to make do without half his slate of candidates.
10 people who were running for councillor on behalf of the Nouveau Parti des Lavallois have quit, and will now run as independents.
Last week, the party's candidate for mayor, Guy Landry, was found to have earned more than $40,000 than he was supposed to from welfare.
One of the dissident candidates, Jacinthe Gagnon, says some of the party's candidates weren't satisfied with Landry after they confronted him.
'The answers didn't convince me," she said. "I was engaged to respond to Laval residents with integrity, and I wasn't comfortable staying with him."
