Arthur Porter asks United Nations for help
Dr. Arthur Porter is appealing to the United Nations to intervene on his behalf as he fights extradition to Canada.
Porter says his human rights have been violated because the country holding him - Panama - refused to grant him bail as his extradition case is decided.
He is also arguing that he should be spared further detention on humanitarian grounds due to his late stage lung cancer.
Corruption investigators want Porter to stand trial here in connection with the contracting for the MUHC superhospital. His wife, who was arrested with him in Panama, did not fight extradition and was released on bail after her return to Montreal.
