Cosmos diner murder case delayed
The son of the slain founder of the renowned Cosmos greasy spoon in NDG will have to be detained a little longer in connection with his father's death.
Johnny Koulakis, 41, has been detained at the Pinel Psychiatric Institute since the end of June when a judge ordered a psychiatric assessment to determine if he was criminally responsible for his actions when he allegedly killed his father, Tony Koulakis, the well-known owner of the diner.
The 86-year-old was found stabbed to death in his St. Laurent home June 22 after police received a call from a concerned family member.
Johnny Koulakis' lawyer, Charles Montpetit tells CJAD 800 News that they've only just received the psych evaluations and they need to go over them.
The case has now been rescheduled for early next month.
Koulakis faces a charge of second-degree murder.
