Ex-EMSB chair fined by Quebec financial watchdog
A former chairman of the English Montreal School Board has been hit with tens of thousands of dollars of fines for misrepresentation as an insurance broker.
Quebec's financial watchdog went after Dominic Spiridigliozzi, director of Courtier d'assurance-crédit Berman-Cast Inc. as well as one of his colleagues, Peter Filato.
The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) filed over 70 charges against Spiridigliozzi, Filato and the company. They pleaded guilty to a total of 21 charges related to operating without the proper permit- for a total of $63,000 in fines. Spiridigliozzi himself was fined $28,000. The company was fined $28,000 and Filato was fined $14,000. The penalty was a common suggestion by both parties.
Spiridigliozzi is also the EMSB commissioner representing St. Leonard.
