Is that the fish you think you paid for?
Nearly half the fish Quebec consumers buy is not quite what they think.
That's what an investigation by Le Journal de Montreal reveals.
It says 47 per cent of samples it collected from fish stores and restaurants in the province weren't what was asked for, that they were replaced with a product of lesser quality.
The Quebec Restaurant Association says it's unacceptable.
Association vice president Francois Meunier is reported saying the public may not be aware of the practice, but nutritionists know that's a major problem.
A nutritionist is quoted as saying that the situation is deplorable.
According to Isabelle Huot, consumers should know exactly what they're buying and what they're eating.
