Quebecers catching on to photo radar
Quebecers are wising up to photo radar.
The first fifteen radar installations the province put in place in 2009 are now bringing in about half the cash they originally did.
During their first full year of operation - 2010 - the machines issued about 74,000 tickets for a total of $10-million in fines. This year, if the current trend holds, those fifteen machines will issue about $5-million worth of tickets.
Transport Quebec says that's a good thing because it shows drivers are changing their behaviour - and to boot, the number of accidents is down as well.
