More women running in November elections
The number of women running in the November's municipal elections is up in areas of five-thousand people or more compared to the vote in 2009.
Quebec's director general of elections says nearly 1200 women are running this time, almost a hundred for positions of mayor.
The overall figure for 2009 was 940.
Women, though, represent just under 30 per cent of all candidacies in the 184 municipalities of five-thousand people or more.
That represents almost 90 per cent of Quebec's population.
