Côté's robocalls gaffe cost him big time: poll
Montreal Mayoralty candidate Marcel Côté's robocalls blunder last week seems to have cost him a lot of votes.
A poll for Radio-Canada has him in last place among the four leading candidates.
Denis Coderre is first at 41 per cent in the CROP poll of 1001 Montrealers. Melanie Joly is in second place at 24 per cent — ahead of Richard Bergeron at 21 per cent.
Côté is dead last at just 11 per cent.
A series of robocalls went out from Côté's camp last week attacking Richard Bergeron.
They were illegal, because no official agent was named.
The poll also finds three quarters of Montrealers say they will absolutely, or probably, vote in the municipal election on November 3rd.
The last two elections both had voter turnouts under 40 per cent.
