Some very blunt comments, as the key women behind the letter in support of the Marois government proposed Charter of Quebec Values flesh out their views.
The group is named for Quebecoise writer Janette Bertrand and in expounding on the views that led to the letter, she says Muslim women who choose to wear a headscarf are manipulated by their religion.
Bertrand says she has spoken to Muslim women who want the Charter and its ban on the wearing of religious symbols in the public service to pass because it would give them ammunition to counter their husbands' insistance that they cover their heads.
Show business producer Denise Filiatrault is being even more direct as she explains why she was one of twenty signatories to Bertrand's letter.
Filiatrault says Muslim women who insist the headscarf is their choice are crazy.
