McGill low cost dental clinic making big move
McGill University is moving its low cost dental service clinic closer to campus and the clients they serve.
The undergraduate teaching clinic is moving from the Montreal General Hospital to a bigger space right across the street from the university campus on Sherbrooke at McGill College Avenue. Dental students offer basic services under close supervision of professors at a lower cost than that of a regular dentist's office. Their clientele is mostly retirees, immigrants and low-income earners.
They're moving because of the new superhospital changes and also because they need to change their equipment and labs and they want to consolidate their services which are spread out downtown.
The move and renovations to the new space will cost $18-million. They've already raised a third of the cost. Rent will cost $1.5-million a year.
The move will take place in May or June of next year and they should welcome their first clients during the summer.
