Group calls for greater access to cancer drugs
A group of Quebec doctors is calling on the province's health minister to provide greater access to cancer drugs.
The Coalition Priorité Cancer au Québec says accessing cancer-fighting drugs has become much more difficult than in previous years. Since the beginning of 2013, the acceptance rate for reimbursing new drugs is 31 per cent, compared with 77 per cent in 2012 and 69 per cent in 2011.
The coalition's president, Nathalie Rodrigue, is asking health minister Réjean Hébert to act quickly on a report published last year which recommends ways to ensure access to new, innovative, and potentially life-saving drugs for cancer patients.
