McDonald's hit-and-run suspect appears in court
A Laval man suspected of being behind the wheel of an SUV that struck an elderly couple in a McDonald's parking lot in the Vimont district Monday morning is facing a total of three charges in connection with the incident.
28-year-old Michael Del Giacco has been charged with hit-and-run causing death, and two other charges — which could lead to a life sentence.
75-year-old Claude Comte was killed as the SUV pulled out of a McDonald's drive through. His wife suffered a fractured elbow and an injured leg.
Del Giacco is now free on bail, with certain conditions — among other things, he's now forbidden to drive.
He returns to court Jan. 22.
