There’s a widespread feeling among most Montreal drivers that we’re paying way too much for our gas. In a four-part series, CJAD reporter Patrick Lejtenyi looks at the forces behind the price of gas. Beyond the price of crude, there are taxes obviously, but also profits made at the refinery level, by distributors and by retailers – who can charge whatever they can get away with. And if that isn’t enough, there is the phenomenon of collusion – a proven problem in this province. And last, Patrick talks to Montreal motorists, and what they’re saying – and thinking – when they fill up.
