About The Show

You knew him from his 12 years with CTV Montreal as both the 6 o’clock news anchor and the station’s investigative reporter. Nowadays, Todd van der Heyden is anchoring weekday afternoons on CTV News Channel, the network’s coast-to-coast all-news cable channel. He's also hosts his very own show on CJAD800. “Viewpoints with Todd van der Heyden” airs Saturday afternoons from 12-3pm.

Each week Viewpoints covers top stories in the news: from politics to entertainment, from pop culture to current affairs.  Todd has a keen eye for both the serious and the light-hearted and loves chatting about topical slice-of-life subjects that get you thinking. A little more on Todd:

Born and raised in Montreal, Todd has been a TV & radio broadcaster in Canada for 15 years. He started his professional career in 1997 in Montreal working for CBC Radio and for Channel 9 – Videotron’s Montreal community television. He was hired at CTV Montreal (then CFCF-12) in 2000 and went on to win numerous awards for his investigative “On Your Side” segments (2003-2008) and other reporting. He began anchoring in 2005 – eventually becoming the 6 o’clock news anchor for CTV Montreal  and later went national on CTV News Channel. Todd also occasionally hosts on CTV’s marquis morning show, Canada AM and has anchored on the network’s flagship show, the CTV National News. During his career, Todd has covered all kinds of stories from the international to the hyper-local; from being on assignment in New York City for the September 11th 2001 terrorist attacks to being in Rome for the election of the new Pope in March 2013. He has also taught broadcast journalism and as a member of ACTRA, has appeared in television and movies. Todd has both a Journalism degree from Carleton University and a Communication Studies degree from Concordia University.
