Recent newlyweds Elyssa and Anthony Cipriani decided to take action based on his son's experience. The 8-year-old started recounting uncomfortable situations: some of his peers were getting taunted and picked on. When that happened, the Ciprianis decided to do something different. They founded an apparel company and fundraiser last February called Hate the Hate. And while they have not reached non-profit status, they keep nothing for themselves: their proceeds go towards Kids Help Phone. Christina stayed quiet about the incident, business being business.  But she decided to speak up when her upcoming gig at the same venue was cancelled, and she wrote about the experience in XO Jane.
