Hawk flies coop on Als for NFL's Rams
CJAD 800 SPORTS HAS LEARNED "The Hawk" has left the Als. But the deal comes suddenly, less than 24 hours after Andrew Hawkins worked out for the St. Louis Rams.
Hawkins played 2 seasons with the Alouettes, battling through injury trouble. He came to Montreal after taking an unusual route at a shot at the Dallas Cowboys...through a reality tv show with former Allpro Michael Irvin called "Fourth and Long."
Hawkins is younger brother of Artrell Hawkins, a longtime NFL player, and cousin of future Canadian Football Hall of Famer Geroy Simon.
Hawkins worked out for the Cincinatti Bengals last week, but says the Rams liked what they saw. Hawkins is reunited in the NFL with his former college teammate John Greco (University of Toledo).
The 5'7" kickreturner lost his starting job to Larry Taylor and then rookie Tim Maypray in the 2010 Grey Cup.
Listen to a CJAD exclusive interview on what he'll miss most about Montreal, the Alouettes and his hopes for making it in the NFL.
