Calvillo facing surgery

While his coach and GM await Decision Day, Anthony Calvillo faces Operation Day.

The 40-year old Allstar QB is undergoing surgery on his left (non-throwing) shoulder to repair a muscle tear suffered early in the season.

Calvillo adjusted his delivery to minimize the pain, coming "over the top" more with a release that at times seemed to increase his velocity.

Coach Marc Trestman and GM Jim Popp are fully expecting that AC will return in 2013, after a season in which he played through the pain but his receiver corps was sent through a revolving door of injuries.

No problem if he retires, Als have TIM TEABOW on their neg-list. LOL

Seriously, McPherson has not won my faith, but it is hard to tell how much was a round peg trying to run an offence designed for a square peg.

If Als aren't sold the only real FA option were Anthony to retire is Mike Reilly (BC) who had nice numbers in very limited playing time. Couple of years younger.

My Teabow comment was facetious, but he may have been better suited for the CFL all along. Trestman would know if he has a chance (assuming no NFL offers) as he was hired to work with him before the draft.
