Trestman rumors explode, Coach T hasn't heard from Bears
Jimmy Johnson, the iconic coach-turned-pundit who gave Marc Trestman his start in coaching, says the Bears have hired the Alouette head coach.
The Bears have not told Marc Trestman that.
NFL sources close to the situation say Trestman has not heard from the Bears, nor has he talked to Jimmy Johnson---so that's not where any leak may have come from.
Trestman does have a connection to Jay Cutler, who worked with Trestman prepping for his NFL rookie season before the 2006 Draft.
The longtime US college and NFL passing guru who has put new fuel into Anthony Calvillo's career the last 5 years, was bypassed by the Cleveland Browns for their new head coaching hire despite a more recent connection to QB Brandon Weeden at Trestman's "qb finishing school."
Hall of Fame coaches like Marv Levy and Bud Grant, both of whom won consistently in the NFL and CFL, have endorsed Trestman's possible return to the NFL.
CJAD football analyst Ed Philion, and NFL and CFL veteran, says Trestman will have an easy transition back to the NFL as a head coach--easier perhaps than GM Jim Popp who is still in the running for jobs with the Jets and could become a person of interest to fill a vacancy in the New York Giants organization.
