Alouettes add experience
The Montreal Alouettes have added a trio of veterans to their roster, signing quarterback Quinton Porter, defensive back Byron Parker and receiver Arland Bruce the Third.
It’s been a big week in terms of changes for the Alouettes. With Marc Trestman accepting the head coaching job in Chicago, it’s still unsure who will be behind the bench for Montreal this season. But says he's not worried.
“I haven’t experienced anything like that. But the GM Jim Pop, I think he’s going to find someone who can relate to the players and make the right choice. Whatever coach it is, i’ll be able to adjust, being 12 years in the game...i’m looking forward to it.”
Parker, a nine-year CFL veteran has 236 career defensive tackles and 29 interceptions under his belt with B.C., Toronto and Edmonton. He says it will be nice to have Anthony Calvillo on his side for a change,.
“AC has put me out of the Eastern Conference final four times, so he’s four for four. My first career interception for a touchdown was against him, but to negate that he broke the record on me when I was in Toronto. Hopefully we come in with a clean slate. Anthony has been one of my favorite quarterbacks to play against because I just like the way he plays. He plays the game it’s supposed to be played. He’s a legend”.
