Sheldon Kennedy calls for tougher penalties for pedophiles

Posted By: Barry Morgan · 10/10/2012 10:05:00 PM

Sheldon Kennedy is a former NHL forward who played with Calgary, Boston and Detroit. He's also an advocate on behalf of children.

Kennedy was among Graham James' sex abuse victims. Kennedy was on my show tonight explaining why he was satisfied with Jerry Sandusky's sentence of at least 30 years in prison.

He also explained why he thinks Canada needs to be tougher with pedophiles.

The abused person is left to his or her own devices to do something about it and the burden of proof is on the abused person solely. The abused must fight, the groups that are protecting their own interests then their is the financial aspect to it, example, lawyers etc, if the abused passes these hurdle's they must then go through the legal system, and we all know how easy that is, lets say then the abused wins. the accused will be slapped on the hand further insulting the abused. lets remember while all these is going on the abused is living through the effects of his abuse which everyone forgot about after the first sentence. Ron. I would like to shove this topic down the throat of the government, where do I sign up.
