Derek Sanderson's incredible story

Posted By: Barry Morgan · 11/14/2012 7:47:00 PM

Derek Sanderson is a former NHL forward who won two Stanley Cups with the Boston Bruins. At one point, he was the highest paid athlete in the world.

At another point, he was penniless and would sometimes sleep on benches in New York's Central Park. It's quite a story of the rise of a pro athlete, his decline because of an addiction to alcohol and his subsequent rise.

Sanderson is the author of Crossing The Line: The Outrageous Story of a Hockey Original.

He shared his story with me tonight.
