Flag-flap a slap in the face
It looks like, despite the intentions of the PQ, the Canadian flag won't be removed from the National Assembly. Thank goodness.
I wonder how members of the military feel about this. I wonder how families of members of the military who fought and died for Canada feel about this.
To remove the flag would be scandalous. To suggest its removal is a slap in the face.
The National Assembly has settled on a parliamentary vote to deal with this. The Liberals will vote
against the PQ's wishes. And it looks as if the CAQ is also against the government on this issue, which shouldn't be an issue at all.
Think of all the time wasted in Quebec City, think of what the government could and should be doing to improve the lives of its citizens, without calling for the flag's removal.
If the PQ is so bent out of shape because of the flag, why doesn't the government refuse transfer payments from Ottawa?
I'm embarrassed to be a Quebecer when I hear these kinds of intentions on the part of the Parti Quebecois.
