Equality Party 2.0 needs your vote

Posted By: Barry Morgan · 4/5/2013 10:11:00 PM

Mark Bergeron decided to get involved in politics after an incident at his home last fall. His young daughter was suffering from a seizure.

First responders were summoned but either couldn't or wouldn't speak English to Bergeron or his wife. That's when he decided to get active on the political scene.

He's become the leader of the fledgling Equality Party 2.0 and he needs your support. Bergeron spent some time with me tonight on the show explaining the goals of his party.

I'd like to know, if the party fields a candidate in your riding, will they have your support? And by the way, they're having a membership meeting on Monday April 8th at the NDG branch of the Royal Canadian Legion at 7pm.

It's true that it's not the time to have a language debate when someone's health is in danger.

But you have to understand that in a french province people expect you to know french, the same way that in Alberta or Newfoundland people expect you to know english and if you don't well they will not serve you in french and you will die if you wait for them to do it.

But somehow english people feel "entitled" to be spoken in english across Canada, even if only 17% of people are actually bilingual.

And now in their delusion they are actually "entitled" to have Montreal, i.e. it "belongs" to them because where there's a few anglos ( 25% ) compared to ( 50% french ) on the island.

That's a very good idea, I would actually vote for the equality party because it would divide the federalist vote, guethoize the english minority and make them look like a "threat" to territorial integrity instead of an "asset" to Quebec and make french people go out of their coma and come back to the island of Montreal to make sure your plans never work out. :)

Once again, your flawed logic shines!
I could go on and on about how silly the things you just said are, but readers will be able to see that themselves!

@Le Québécois The English language is being attacked unnecessarily. The French language, and from some person s mouth it is hardly French, is not at all in peril. Over 94.4% of Quebecers can converse in French...Bill14, is in my eyes an abuse of power with a severe penchant toward socialist flirting with communism by its total lack of respect for human rights.

De Courcy and company should use their energy towards more serious problems. I encourage anglos to fight very hard to restore their rights. Being a francophone, I suport them 100% and hope many francophones will join them.

Mr. Morgan you are doing a great job!

@Antoinette Mercurio "you will stand up for our right, "

sure of course your "rights" outway the right of francophones to be able to live and work in french in their own last and only french province.

you can't even be answered in french all over Canada but somehow the reverse should not be true for superior anglos citizens...

As long as you are going to see our french nation state as an error in history then people will not join your pitiful attemps at "having a large coalition of anglophone and (sold) francophones defending the rights of anglophones (before before themselves)"

Dream on angryphones disconnected from the new reality of the diverse english community 2.0

You sir do not know anything about the history of Montreal or the simple fact that english speaking Canadian citizens living here, born or from choice, are not a collective swarm but individuals who obviously understand basic human rights which you do not. 600,000 freedom loving people left your secessionist dreamland leaving us all poorer for their loss.

@Ardee Norman "600,000 freedom loving people left your secessionist dreamland leaving us all poorer for their loss. "

People leave for economic and a myriad of other reasons...

While political tensions generate a lot of empty threats of leaving, it is rarely the ony reason for leaving. They would probably have left anyway just like Ontario which is losing more "anglos" than Quebec btw.

In fact in the 19th century Quebec lost about 1 000 000 french Quebekers before separation was even imagined.

It's once again desperate angryphones trying to use natural migrations as an explanation of economic conditions and link everything to language laws.

Well by the sucess of their last pitiful demonstration we can see clearly that while they do not represent neither Quebec nor Montreal, they do not even represent the new anglophones who are cosmopolitan and proud to be english but at the same time understand and have compassion for the aspiration and survival of their french friends and their attemps to protect their culture.

The PQ has a special talent for bringing out the worst in people. They are racist, ignorant, and want to ensure Quebec population remains uneducated and uncompetitive in a global market. It's as if someone corralled all of societies psychopaths under one banner where they can proudly spew their xenophobic venom.

So, against this backdrop I fully understand the reaction to want to bring back a party that represents normal human rights and freedoms enjoyed by the rest of the free world.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they are heading down the right path and will not get my support as a result. No one needs a resurrection of the Angryphone party. All that will accomplish is to split the federalist vote and let the PQ racists back in power. This is the unfortunate un-intended consequence of supporting the Equality Party.

You Must realize that this is a continent where English rules today and every person in North America must be able to respond in English, after that the more languages anyone knows, the better.
