A real hero
You may have never heard of Nicole Foran of Nova Scotia but you should really know her story.
Foran was a flight attendant on a plane that was hijacked. This happened on April 19, 2009 when a gunman targetted CanJet Flight 918. The plane was sitting on the tarmac at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Its next destination was Cuba.
Foran and her colleagues were able to persuade Stephen Fray to allow the passengers to get off the plane. But it would be another 8 terrifying hours before the hijacking ended, peacefully.
Foran was recently honored in Ottawa, receiving the Star of Courage.
It's a remarkable story about a real-life hero.
