Scarlet Road: A sex worker's journey

I just saw a wonderful documentary first presented by the CBC's Passionate Eye called Scarlet Road.  This is a film that documents the life of Rachel Wotton, an Australian sex worker who started an organization called Touching Base.  As a sex worker, which is completely legalized in Australia, she focuses on work with the disabled.  Rachel is a beautiful, educated,  and extremely compassionate individual--this comes through loud and clear in the film (which you can view here:http://www.cbc.ca/player/Shows/ID/2314258771/ ).  What is also clear is that she believes in everyone's right to a healthy sexuality, and that includes the often neglected people with disabilities.  She offers them companionship, touch and sex.  The film includes interviews with a number of her clients.  It was truly touching to watch.  Last night, Concordia's Cinema Politica screened the film, and Rachel Wotton was available for questions.  Although I did not attend the screening, the feedback I ...

Mid life Crisis or Menopause/Andropause?

Somewhere between 30 and 60 years of age, about 10% of the population goes through an actual mid-life crisis, that can last anywhere from 2 to 10 years.  Interestingly, mid life crises seems to affect men and women differently, and sometimes it's difficult to tell whether it's all hormonal or just "in your head". Researchers at McGill University are interested in how stress affects intimacy, relationship satisfaction, and health among lesbian and gay individuals in same-sex and/or same-gendered couples.

If you identify as lesbian or gay, your relationship has lasted at least six months, and you are aged 18 years or older, you are invited to participate in this online study.

Montreal-based study on sexual arousal and desire

Wondering if you have Low Sexual Desire? ------------ Difficulty Becoming Sexually Aroused? 
 A research team in the Department of Psychology at McGill University is seeking healthy, heterosexual Montreal residents between the ages of 18-50, with low sexual desire and/or arousal, to participate in a study examining how 'what you want' and 'what turns you on' impacts how your body responds.
Participation involves a single testing session and takes place in their laboratory at McGill University. Participants will receive a comprehensive assessment of their sexual difficulties. Participants will also complete questionnaires/ interviews, and view neutral and sexually explicit film clips while having genital temperature measured remotely by a thermal imaging camera.
Participation involves NO health risks and your confidentiality and anonymity are assured. Following participation, participants will receive educational feedback, including treatment referrals and self-help resources (if desired). Financial compensation of $75.00 will also be provided.
