Man running across Canada to raise money for kids arrested in Quebec

Posted By: Dan Delmar · 7/3/2012 5:06:00 PM

Curtis Hargrove is a 23-year-old Albertan doing something for the kids: he's running across Canada to raise funds for the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation in Edmonton.

Curtis started on the east coast, but when he got to Quebec, he hit a road block: he was asked by police to stop running on the TransCanada. He refused, and was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice.

Dan Delmar spoke to Curtis today.

The Quebec Highway code doesn't allow people to walk (or run) on the highway. If he would have checked, he would have seen this. He had already knew that you cannot run on the 401 in Ontario. The reason he was arrested was because he admittedly said he was being mouthy to the cops and being a bit of an a-hole. If he would have just apologized and taken another route, the cops would have never arrested him. It was completely his fault. For charity or not, he should have done his research as to where he could run. I applaud his effort for charity, but really... he should have done his homework. If he was running on the 401 and was mouthy with the OPP, he would have been arrested too.
