PHOTOS: Young kids smoking. Brilliant art or disturbing nonsense?
Belgian photographer Frieke Janssens' exhibit at New York's VII Gallery is raising a lot of eyebrows, and the ire of parents everywhere.
He photographs young children, aged four to nine, smoking to make patrons think about how enticing cigarettes would look if they were in the hands of innocent kids. The cigarettes used in the photography are apparently harmless and don't contain tobacco.
Janssens says he was inspired by this video of an Indonesian baby who smokes 40 cigarettes per day and became a viral sensation on YouTube with nearly 20 million views.
